Fredric Tudor was born in Boston in 1783. He was at a picnic drinking an ice cold drink when he realized that other people don't have cold drinks and that they get so hot out in tropical climates. Just then he had a "light bulb" moment. He had an idea that he could ship ice all around the world to hot climates. It was a great idea at first but then he thought about how he'd do it. Then he figured out that if you put saw dust in between ice and it wouldn't melt. Soon Fredric Tudor bought a $5,000 ship because the people of Boston wouldn't let them use there ships because they thought it was crazy; and it was! Before loading up, Fredric Tudor asked his brother, William Tudor, to go and sell ice with him. William agreed to go with him so they loaded up and set sail from New England to the Caribbean islands. Once Fredric and William got there no one wanted to buy the ice! When Fredric and William got home they just started to get ready for the next mission to go sell ice. next stop is to martinique. Fredric and William set off to sell ice. Once they got there no one wonted to buy it. Fredric Tudor was trying to convince that when the people tried his ice that no one could live without it! But no one wanted the ice. As they were sailing home William Tudor quit the job. For the next winter Fredric Tudor was all alone. Fredric remarkably got enough money to send an other ship of ice. He sent it to the Indies. this time it worked and from then on he made a profit. that's the story of the "ice king".
